All the previously developing countries have finished up and only ones left are the poor ones.

The term developing countries has always been around. Back in the 70's we had Ireland, Greece, Singapore, Portugal, South Korea as developing countries. Now they are considered developed. Many countries that are considered developing countries were stagnant third world countries, such as India, Vietnam and Indonesia. Nowadays, although they are still poor, they are not stagnant anymore, hence the developing label. Most of Africa and other countries such as Haiti and Burma are still viewed as third world countries because they are stagnant (not just economically but as well as socially and politically).

Many countries are just poor. Not developing, not turning towards enlightenment. Ruled by Thugs and the most paranoid. Warlords and no law rules. Sad but true

because everybody is so touchy and easily insulted these days that we have to all be so damn politically correct! To be absolutely critical of the term "developing countries" I think EVERY country in the world is always developing ... the only one which stops developing is one that will be swept away by the tide of change- which is such a shame...

Developing countries are previously 3rd World countries that are beginning to compete economically on a global scale. 3rd World countries, now called 4th World by people who study world poverty, are still called 3rd (or 4th) World countries.

Because it is presumed that the only thing worth developing is wealth .....courtesy of our duly elected officials standing for the bovine fecal matter granted the constituents of said elect.

it is a more politically correct way of calling them i guess. Maybe someone got offended about being called a poor country so now they have to say it a different way

Because people are stupid.
Poor does not equal developing.
Some poor countries are devloping, some rich countries are developing.
Some poor countries are moving backwards, some rich countries are moving backwards.
