..do I have to do any settings or install anything? The memory hardware didn't come with a CD.

Its a DDR SDRAM 512 mb. 2700.

If your computer works your all set. Memory never requires any drivers. As long as you can boot than it will work perfectly. To make sure your computer is recognizing it. Hit ctrl-alt-delete and go the "Performance" tab. Under "Physical Memory" "Total" you should have about 512 MB more than you used to.

You shouldn't have to do anything other than properly seat the new RAM stick solidly. Then reboot, and Windows should automatically recognize the additional RAM. To check this, right click on "My Computer", left click on "Properties", and the resulting window should show you the amount of RAM you have installed down near the bottom of the window.

RAM does not use drivers on the Windows level. To tweak the setting of your memory, you must enter the BIOS Setup page, by hitting DEL or F2 when your computer starts.

If you meant software for RAM it doesnt exist or as far as i know it is not necessary which is the reason it is known as "Plug and Play" .. just plug it in and you should be good!

just pop in the chip and fire up the pc. Computer automatically detects it on boot up.
