True, genuine love for others is not only a matter of forgiving others for the wrongs they have done, regardless of their motives. Real, unconditional love also does not make an effort to shield the offender from the consequences of his/her actions, IF THE OFFENDER IS OF THE AGE OF ACCOUNTABILITY, and therefore can understand the difference between right and wrong, and can see how their actions have affected others.
In the case cited above, genuine love would be to forgive your parents, and to associate with them, but you would withhold from them the details of your financial matters. Not only that, but you would, if necessary in the case of your own minor children (if any) appoint someone else as legal guardian of their financial matters. In other words, you can love and respect an alcoholic but you wouldn't give them a beer, or their car keys, especially if they are presently demonstrating the inability to safely and responsibly handle said beers or car keys.

Well, this is a very hard question to answer. Child star - did the parents invest for the future? Children don't need to have that much money. How young are we talking here? Did they drink it away? Drugs? Why is it gone? Too many open-ended questions for me to answer correctly. But, it sounds like you're on the right track - evil to good, is good.

Forgiveness is a process and I do not believe such betrayal would be easy for most people. Even if forgiveness was achieved the relationship would be very strained because there would be no trust to base it on. The building blocks of all good relationships are built on honesty and trust.

I would say that whether or not they deserve you loveor not - it's the fact that you are your parents' child. Love them because you owe them your life.
