I saw a Robin Hood movie a few hours ago, and I remembered hearing that (according to the story), Robin Hood had just got back from fighting in the Crusades when he started doing his charitable stuff. The Crusades revolved around Christianity attempting to conquer and convert the Muslim world. Well, the US and it's allies are doing that as we speak. This time, it's "democracy" instead of something religious, but we're still trying to use brute force to convert them to our way of thinking. According to Bush, he even takes his orders from God (literally).

The real kicker is that the Pope is joining in too.

well, it seems that Bush is playing the old "I'm not directly saying it, but I sure as h*ll am implying it" game... he calls them "islamafacists"... which implies islam has fascists, just not "terrorists" any more but a direct religious link there...

... and there are certainly terrorists in every middle eastern country...

so I think it's a bit of the old "I didn't say it" *wink, wink, nod nod* going on here... kind of "we all know it's all the muslims, but we can't come out and say it, but yes it's a new crusade" kind of attitude... next Iran... then Syria... then Egypt... then not sure, maybe saudi or pakistan... but he seems to be sweet on those last two, even though they have the most terrorists links of the bunch...

Leogirl08: did you see that the "elected government" asked Iran for help... yeah, sure we liberated them... and created a new Iran that we can't leave because we're freaked out about what they are going to do...

geez, it's so nice that everything is going great and we're liberators isn't it :)

and I'm sure they thought they were "liberating" the middle east then too...

Absolutely not.

This is really the set up for the battle on the plane of Esdraelon. What has become known as the hill or city of Megiddo or Armageddon.

Muslims, Christians, Bush, the Pope, Yahoo Q&A participants, etc., etc., just pawns in the end game. Bye, bye.
-------
The Crusades were to recover Jerusalem and the Holy Land from Muslim control and not to convert. Good thing they didn't know about the oil!

Michael F:

In our democratic society one is allowed to express one's views quite openly and without fear of repercussion or persecution. That said if you Michael, were now living anywhere in the Moslem world, do you honestly believe that you would be allowed freedom of speech and belief, in the manner that you are accustomed to here in the good Ol' U.S..of A? My friend, needless to say but you would be hung, drawn and quartered and suffer other atrocities for such sacrilegious and blasphemous thoughts and actions.

Let's face it. The only "saving grace" that the Arab world now has are their assets of OIL– BLACK GOLD that we in the West need. The Middle Eastern countries who control/dominate OPEC have learned how to manipulate this to their advantage, hence their emergence as forces to contend with.

But let's be pragmatic about this. If the U.S. and it's allies were able to develop technology that would be economically viable and sustainable so as to eliminate our present-day dependence on oil, would we give even a camel's turd for the Arab/Muslims' philosophies, religions, ways of life, customs, etc.?

Somehow I do not believe that we have any interest in "converting them to our way of thinking" as you put it! But I do believe and firmly support the use of (brute, if necessary) force – justifiable in the context of the abject hatred, terrorism, cowardly murderous acts, suicide bombings, etc. perpetrated by these "great warriors of Allah" on the infidels (read Crusaders), be they innocent children or other human beings.

If it were not for BLACK GOLD I am sure we would not give a pig's fart for the Arab/Muslim world. Taking liberties with and paraphrasing Rudyard Kipling "(Middle) East is (Middle) East and West is West and never the twain shall..........", somehow seems appropriate in the circumstances.

I personally fully support President George Bush, Mr. Tony Blair, our other Allies and the great Israeli nation.

Dear Michael,
No "we" are not... in fact the reality is that you are sitting down typing moronic questions into a computer. Go get a better book than the one you used to educate yourself on the "crusades". American is the worlds bully and someday the rest of the world is going to stand up to us and kick our ***... well they are going to try but we are a nation of pure psycopathic hop heads and it's pretty hard to kill a country that is trying so hard to kill itself

No we aren't.

Yes we are heavily involved in the Middle East but the radical Islamics have said multiple times on tape(one of the most recent was during the latest journalist kidnappings) that either we convert to their brand of Islam or they will kill us all. They've been saying this since at least the early 90's probably longer.

do you hear what you are saying? You are so mixed up its unreal. We liberated, we are not taking control we are providing security now (in Iraq) they have their own government that they chose the candidates and they voted in their candidates. Please pay more attention to the news. You won't look so uniformed in the future.

The Pope was just misunderstood in his message. He was reading a QUOTE written centuries ago. He was against violence. Who isn't against it?
