"The pebble that became a Stone" "Then the day became night and all was calm. I found myself wondering the woods for days not knowing where I was. For that manner where I have been? Then I found a pound in the middle of the wood and I was so thirsty I had to drink." Just to interupt but who in there right mind would ever drink from a pound. Do you know what grows in there. Yuk!

Well, if there was no other water around and you were lost in the wood and it became a question of survival, then it makes perfect sense to drink from a pond (I assume that's what you meant).

Main Entry: 2pound
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English, enclosure, from Old English pund-
1 a : an enclosure for animals; especially : a public enclosure for stray or unlicensed animals b : a depot for holding impounded personal property until redeemed by the owner
2 : a place or condition of confinement
3 : an enclosure within which fish are kept or caught; especially : the inner compartment of a fish trap or pound net

Well I guess that would be a dog or a walking fish...

Well, who in THEIR right mind would drink from a POND? Someone in distress and thirsty and in the middle of nowhere trying to survive!

In any case, I was taught by a history teacher that if you have to drink from a pond, you should drink like the animals: just bend down and put your mouth on the water level and drink. That is to get the cleaner surface water. If you stick you hand in to drink like from a cup, you will have all the dirt from the bottom of the pond come up.

Also, our bodies are so accustomed to bottled water or even faucet water that regular pond water might get us really sick or even kill us with dysentery.

Don't know how I would drink from a pound but I did drink from a creek. It's not much different from drinking from a well and plenty of people have done that.
