I think that these disciplines can tell you a lot about yourself, but there is a real danger. Many people think that their lives are determined and so they adopt a Que Sera Sera attitude (= whatever will be will be, which is just a tautology). What is fated or determined is that an individual will meet certain people and encounter certain events, but s/he has free will in how s/he chooses to respond to them. With an increase in understanding one is able to respond to a situation they encountered before in a different way this time. And another thing that is not clear is that free will is not the same thing as free-dom. You are free to choose, make a different choice but can you carry it out? Example: Suppose you decide that you want to drive a car. You have made a choice. But you still can't drive a car. You have to learn the habits involved in driving a car before you can actually drive a car. When people believe that their lives are completely determined, they don't make any effort at changing things for the better. Why should they? It's going to happen anyway! No, not necessarily, but what if YOU react to that situation differently. They call this learning. Also, newspaper astrology is stuff that is so watered down as to be virtually meaningless. You have to get your birthchart cast for the day you were born, and preferably with the exact time of birth. And what does this mean? Whether the so-called authorities like it or not, your birtchart is your report card of what you accomplished (or didn't accomplish) in your past life. Your whole birthchart consists of what they call karma = cause and effect. If you wake up and understand what you did before has brought you to the point where you are now, you are then in a position to make a different response, or finish something you started before, and then you grow and learn and change into a better person. It's hard work but its exciting - it's what we're here for. Type in astrodienst on the internet and get a free sample of what they can tell you about yourself and the influences affecting you right now (called Forecasts).

My friend is a pyschic and I followed her advice and feel foolish. It came true but it's not what I expected.
I do my own Tarot and the reading was right on the mark.
The astrology readings from Town and Country Horoscopes and astrologycom.com have been accurate this year for me.
No matter what you determine your own course. If you decide not follow the person's advice, you change the outcome. Or you may get the same lesson in a different way.
My opinion is to go in with an open mind. If you doubt, don't bother with any form of metaphysics.

I'm of the opinion that there is SOME truth to be found pretty much anywhere.
But these fields are also particularly susceptible to quackery, and let's face it... this stuff just isn't that easy, so even a well-meaning honest tarot card reader (for example) could easily misdirect you.
That said, I dabbled in astrology and did my own natal chart, which was a helpful exercise insofar as it caused me to re-examine my personality and notice some traits I was unaware of previously. I find daily horoscopes to be of no value, except in the cases where they are funny.
I have also gotten some good advice (although nothing earth-shaking) from a tarot reader, an astrologer, and a handwriting analyst. But I have gotten good advice from friends, co-workers, siblings, etc and didn't have to pay for it!
I think the main value in these fields is found in the soul-searching, the contemplation of your own nature, the therapeutic quality of discussing your goals, etc with a fellow human being, rather than in some mystical guidance system.
Somewhere in my photo albums is a picture from a Halloween party of Alice from Wonderland giving a tarot card reading to Little Red Riding Hood... I outta dig that out for this year's party.

I have been to a Palmist about 2 months ago and yes he was so right
I was told, I would have a problem within my womb 2 weeks later I lost the lining of my uterus.
I have done my Astrology birth charts and they are so much me
I have also done my Numerology birth chart and they are so much me.
I see a medium once a week at my spiritual church I have been going to for over 3 years and they have never been wrong.
I have also had my Tea leaves read and I was told I would be going to a funeral that someone had been bedridden for over 6 month would pass over soon.
About a month later my Uncle died and he had been bedridden for over 8 months no one in the family had told me.
Love & Blessings
Milly

Personally I believe in it to an extent. I believe in people being psychic, not like miss cleo though, real psychics. Not big into the other stuff, but I still read my horoscope at the end of the day to see how far off it was :)

Someone once said that the only thing that astrology has ever proved is that "There is one born every minute!"
