I would encourage Congress to start impeachment proceedings immediately. I would then cross the southern border and look for a safe haven. Possibly in Vincente Fox's backyard, where I would be able to hide in shame at the poor job I had done in the United States. I would pray to God every minute to forgive me for allowing American soldiers to be killed, in a war that I chose to create. Not to mention the thousands of people who have been killed due to my invasion of their country. But then, that's just what I would do.

I would close the borders, quit helping Israel with money and military support, and put a freeze on all Saudi funds in the United States. I would put increase Naval and Coast Guard patrols of the waterways.

Just a thought.

I would close down all of our military training centers, and ask for all NATO nations to do likewise, for six months. I would invite 200,000 Iraqis to come to those training centers for army boot camp. Then I would send those 200,000 back to Iraq, withdraw our own troops, and leave Iraq's security in their own hands.

I would eliminate the current tax code and adopt a 20% flat tax that allows no deductions whatsoever, but gives each person a standard exemption of 10K per adult and 5K per kid. A family of 4 earning less than 30K would pay no taxes at all. There would be no tax shelters, no place to hide your wealth. If we needed to modify the revenue totals, we would change the personal exemptions.

I would push for and hopefully adopt a Balanced Budget amendment to the Constitution that only allowed deficit spending in time of war (as declared by Congress under the Constitution).

I would stop all trade with China until they adopted a fair monetary policy and stopped building knock-off reproductions of items that Americans have international patent rights on.

I would begin a plan to eliminate the current national debt over the next 50 years.

I would implement a program that gave government employees financial rewards for saving money.

I would eliminate any perk that applies only to members of Congress.

I would veto ANY bill that contained ANY pork or ANY unrelated riders, even if it shut down the government. I would tell Congress right up front that this would be my policy, and I would have people on my staff whose sole purpose is to make sure the House and Senate leaders know exactly which provisions of a bill would make it unapprovable for me. I'd make sure the public knew it, and I'd rub Congress' noses in it every time I had to veto something because of its pork.

I'd push the EPA to get more accurate MPG numbers for their ratings. I'd push for higher gas milage standards. I'd invest in alternative fuel technologies that could be brought to market quickly. (Fuel cells, Bush's favorite, are 15-20 years away from viability.) I would require a Gas Guzzler tax on any vehicle that doesn't get at least 20 MPG. (Goodbye, Hummer.)

I'd fail re-election. I'd probably be assassinated in less than six months by a hit man bought by the Congress. I'd go down in history as the most hated president ever.

But I might save the country.

Kill the patriot act. Making citizens into terrorists since 2001. And pull out of Iraq and forget the WMD's we sold them. Relocate the military to help out in New Orleans with construction. Have John McCain be my VP then resign since I think he is the only politician who has an inkling on what needs to be done.

I suppose I would be subject to a system of mediocrity, run by the rich and powerful, in the shadow of the ignorant and by the crumbs of hope left from the world of reason that can only rarely ever be expected gain fruition.
