i've been taking dimetapp (or however you spell it) cold&allergy for my allergies, and it makes you pretty drowsy, especially after the first dose. well, you know how the next day you still feel a little drowsy and/or out of it? if you drink a lot of water, will it flush the rest of the medicine out of your system, and make you not feel so out of it?

Drinking water always helps in the removal of excess drugs in your body after they have gone through your system, but it would not help with flushing the meds directly through your system.

The drugs are made in such a way that they have a certain release time within your body, and until the release time has ended, there is no way to flush the drugs out.

My suggestion is to either get your doctor to change your allergy meds or to see if you can find other alternative methods to treating your allergy. (there is a lot of new alternative meds now that would not affect you, Zyrtec is good, I am on that one myself, even if it is a little more expensive.)

any reason why you can't try another allergy med?? Claritin doesn't make you drowsy or feel all hung over the next day & does a terrific job of clearing up allergies. Zyrtec also works well, but I believe you have to have a script for that one. See a doctor - they can steer you clear on what to do - & good luck!!!

I have allot of allergy problems, i mean bad ones. I take Benadryl (non drowsy) and helps allot, but the Nasonex given to my by my doctor, helps better than anything. I get over the allergy attacks allot quicker without the drowsy affect. Just ask your doctor about it, hope it helps you too.

Try Claritin for allergies, it's non-drowsy.
