Example: My website consist of its very own sports directory and sports store. The directory part of the site has a category called
baseball cards. The title had reads, baseball cards directory: web pages listed by editors.

My sports store(on same website) also has a category called
baseball cards. The title reads, baseball cards- purchase baseball cards for sale from site name. The keywords baseball cards would be seen on both the store and directory pages.

Would this be seen as double content?

Both pages could be show up under the keyword phrase, baseball cards. Heck both could show up under baseball cards directory as well since sports directory is shown on the top navigation bar.

Duplicate content is a complex issue and without seeing the site you are referring to it is difficult to answer your question. In general if you have either two or more pages with different urls that have almost identical content or two or more different pages that have the same url then these will be seen by the search engines as duplicate content.
