No, i mean if you do it in front of a family member it's ok i guess, but i never done it! It's not polite to do it in public either way. If you did it once, say Excuse me hehe! Atleast they know you have a bit of manners!

I don't understand people saying it is okay as far as it does not stink. How do you know before you farted? Plus you always enjoy your own smell but the People around you may not. Farting is a technic one has to develop. It is a skill. You should be able to control and let it go when you want it go. Now, you should let it just before leaving the lift so that you leave Sunahari Yaadein. When you are in party, if you notice, every even minutes, you will run out of subjects and there will be silence for a few seconds. That is the time when you should fart loudly. Hey, you worked so hard to fart and nobody noticed, that is not fair. Bahut Beinsafi hai!. Fart confidently and loudly. Don't ever hesitate to fart. It is your birthright. Fart when you are happy, fart when you are sad. Fart in marriage, fart in funerals. Whatever religion, cast creed or skin you have, you all fart. So it is an indication of Vishwabandhutva. In fact, we should celebrate a fart day when when we go out on streets and fart for whole day and enjoy each others fart. That will bring us all closer to each other.
By the way, if all of one billion of Indians fart together in the directions of Pakistan, they will think that it is a hurricane and that mulk will be wiped out forever and only thing that is left will be a memorable smell - yadein!

I always wonder this, myself, I will burp quietly to myself and then excuse myself afterwards, but farting, for some reason, I won't do it, and I'll hold it in and then get horrible gas cramps. I wish farting was acceptable because its embaressing as hell when you do it!

Farting's ok if it's not heard, or smelt. Burping is fine if you keep your mouth shut and say excuse me.

This is awful, but a person I used to work with, told me that she used to have to pass gas in Walmart.
She said she always went to the bath towel eisle in the back of the store and passed gas because noone was normally back there.
She said she would then run to a few eisles over so noone would think it was her.
I do not buy any towels in Walmart for that reason.

no, its rude. however, sometimes you just can't control it so you should at the very least is say excuse me or sorry. my daughter is 3 years old and she says excuse me even when she is in the bathroom. (lol....she screams it really loud so that we can be sitting watching tv and the next thing we hear is "EXCUSE ME" and we crack up laughing, but at the same time we are very proud of her for having such good manners)

My husband seems to think so, he does it all the time. I guess it's okay as long as you excuse yourself and your not obnoxious about it. Make sure they are not stinky, because that is RUDE.
