"Children of a Lesser God."
It's a love story, an older movie from 1986.
About a hearing teacher, who teaches lip reading and speech at a school for the deaf. He falls in love with a student, who had decided to remain at the school rather than venture out into the world, and who also refuses to speak, but only signs.

Mr. Holland's Opus, with Richard Dreyfus playing a devoted music teacher. The title character's son is born deaf and Mr.Opus has to reconcile that his boy won't quite follow in his footsteps.

"Children of a Lesser God", as said earlier, is also great.

"The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" with Alan Arkin and Sondra Locke, is well-regarded too. Arkin plays a deaf-mute.

Children of a lesser God. Also Mr. Holland's opus. It's about a music teacher with a deaf son.

Discovery Health has an awesome documentary about deaf people, children, the cochlear implant, and deaf society as a whole. I don't know the exact title, but go to their website a nd search for it. You can order a copy if you want.

The only one I can think of is "Children of a Lesser God" and I haven't even seen it, so I don't know if it's good.

What about "The Miracle Worker?" It's about Helen Keller. Well, it's about her and her teacher.
