It may or maynot work depending on what system you use, but M$ shows the 3rd character of the ascii chart as a heart. The more reliable though would be the afore mentioned:
<3

< - less than sign (Shift+.)
And, ofcourse the number '3'

the less than key which is the shift button and the comma < and then the three 3

which makes <3
