I would start by potting up 500/5-gal. Cerus peruivanis cuttings. Then 500 /5 gal. purple prickly pear, grown from cuttings, and so forth until I reached a comfortable size farm turned wholesale growing nursery. Every farm has it's garden and that's where the fun begins, who knows maybe one could graft some Humulus lupulus L. with Cannabis sativa L. and come up with a new ,legal, smokeable, Cannabacae that could be very profitable for the farm! I would call my new genus Hop Bhang Mary Jane, yeah , that's the ticket! Enough said.

You should a) subdivide your farm in to smaller areas with the aim to grow sufficient vegetables and fruit in some while keeping some chickens and some animals for meat and eggs in others to supply your family and perhaps some of your friends or your local open market once a week.(for a cash price offcourse. Try organic produce people pay more for) This way you will become self sufficient which in turn means: if you spent $100 to $150 a week for your groceries you have at the end of the year saved $5200 to $7800 plus some extra money from your weekend adventures. The above figure could become then $7500 to $10000 a year. Additionally this is tax free money!!!
b) Now, here comes the next step that not only saves you money but also could make you money to quit your day job. For this step however, you will need to work smarter not just harder. You must do some research on an area of but no more than 10km/miles, around your farm and locate good and expensive restaurants, clubs, speciality shops and brand name motels. You are looking to find out the most expensive, difficult to find in your area ingredients they have use in their menus. Those products that are of short supply in your area and they have to bring from another area or even import. However, must be possible for you to grow on your farm those products of vegetable and/or animal origin.
So, do not do what everyone with a farm in your area is doing because there will be a lot of competition from the large farms in price and the amount of products they can produce to lock you out of the market. Which in turn means you will have to work very hard to survive. Specialize.
About making money from drugs on your farm? You cannot really enjoy your money, your life and your family if you are in jail. My opinion.

In this day and age, you're going to have to find some kind of niche crop, like wild grass seed or something like that. Farming now is for the big corporations, unless you inherit a large family farm or something. The average small farmer cannot make it very easily.

Corn is always in demand. And don't forget you could always raise some cattle, or sheep, or goats.
