to me art is as fast food to the tast buds is, as sports to the body, as breath for the lungs. it can be painful, or plesurful but will always affect you. it is a though captured, a single thought made powerful in a group of billions. it is the feeling of a different reality, expressed by the artist, given to you for a brife time. it has the ability to change you if you let it.

Art to me is a way to express your self not through words but through an image that you created. There is all ways room to improve and grow with you knowledge of the art world. I personally like portraits and resonance art work. But I will try to imitate landscapes and still life items before my eyes. Also my rule is not to copy an other artists' work, tracing is also copying, create your own work of art that will tell others that you are an individual.

to me personally?
art is something that makes me think and wonder...about my life and my surroundings...a picture or a song or a sculpture...
something that may bring back memories or create a new vision for myself.
art for me does not always have to be beautiful..it can touch my dark self and bring forth anger and pain that i willingly embrace.
It could be something of beauty that leaves me feeling peaceful and serene.
for me art is something that touches my soul and leaves an imprint in my existance.
what others may find as art i may not and the other way around also.
what makes a great artist...anyone who puts themselves into what they have done..a classic work like "The Kiss" or even a child that has made something for you out of love.
something that touches your soul.
this to me my friend is my definition of art.

i believe everyone has their own definition or what art is. to me, abstract art is not art. if you take a brush and make a paint splatter on canvas, is it art? not to me, but it seems many people can be very moved by that paint splatter. to me, my avatar pic is art (im not trying to be funny, it is art to me), to some it is just a black and white mugshot of a dirty old man.

ART cannot have a specific definition.
It is easier to describe it as the way something is done -- The use of skill and imagination in the creation of aesthetic objects, environments, or experiences.
It is a personal concept, you have described it as it applies to you, each one of us will describe our definitions of it differently, none of us will be wrong - that's the beauty of Art.
