You can consider me neutral as to the validity of the war in Iraq for this question. I seem to remember growing up in the 60's many TV interviews with brave young Americans in the field of battle in Vietnam. For the child I was it was pretty heartwrenching, but at least Americans could identify with our soldiers. I realize interviews in a war that is going badly for us is not good for public morale, but aren't we showing a horrible disrespect for their lives by allowing the media and government to silence their voices of valor and sacrifice?

This is how the media works. If they were to do that, people would know the truth, and people HATE to know the truth, especially if it's bad. Another thing to is that they don't want you to think about any news too long, so they keep finding new things so you don't start to think more about things and form an opinion. When the war started it was everywhere, people were like, "Why? Why?..." etc. People protesting and all that. Once it's oiff the news....who cares! Sadly, that's how it works. Don't show the war, and the war doesn't exist.

that's the problem that the government wants to avoid. the images of war in viet nam helped make the war unpopular by showing the actual carnage. the government wants the news coverage more "sanitary" so the people back home can't see the big freakin mess that war is. it was done during WWI. the government leaders don't give a squat about the valor or sacrifice of the troops. they don't want public opinion to turn away from the war effort. that's why they promote the " if you disagree with the president, you are not supporting the troops." mentality.

There are in-field interviews. You have to remember right now first phase is over. Insurgence are hiding in street corners or markets. It's different battle there. More reporters actually have died already in Iraq than in during entire Vietnam War.

You have answered your own question. It's the media. The positive comments in the field are contrary to the negative spin the media wants to continue.

that ought to be appropriate and great. that's a logical question. in spite of the undeniable fact that, think of with regard to the effect of prevailing a conflict or conflict with out the management. i've got faith, in my view, that the human beings in public provider ought to work out and excursion the area having the comparable risk of loss of life or being injured. What approximately this: if the conflict is unsuccessful in achieving the targets, the regulation ought to be that they are immediately barred from serving in public provider for the remainder of their lives.
