lol... if only we could tell their parents.

I say we should just go around answering their questions wrong on purpose. Once they start getting all wrong answers on their homework maybe they'll deside they're better off doing it themselves... or they'll just find another way to cheat.

You are COMPLETELY right, I could not agree more. I remember having to work it out myself, they should too. I, like you, am more than willing to help someone out who just wants to know HOW to do it, but I absolutely refuse to just cough up an answer.
Although I do find it entertaining to see some of the obviously incorrect answers that are given to these kids, and wonder how many of them turn in their homework with them!! LOL

I agree. I think they should take that category out altogether. First of all, they shouldn't be relying on people out in cyberland who they never met to help them and who do not have their best interest at heart (sometimes) and can tell them the wrong answer. That's what their parents should be doing and these kids shouldn't be online while doing their homework unless it's necessary to the assignment like a research project or something.

Yes, it is unfortunate how some kids here want an answer, not help on a problem. You break it down for them, some people will even give answers. A minute later you will see another question from them, just like the previous one!

No, I don't give wrong answers. I answer to the best of my knowledge (maybe not to the full extent of it, though). I simply cannot mislead one on purpose. This is inethical. Yes, they will find another way to cheat.

Not every kid is like that. I have seen something like "give me clues, but not answers, please" but unfortunately people are still ranting out the answers! Poor kid wrote "No more answers please" in the comments (probably didn't know how to delete the question.). They don't know how to reformulate the question to look for clues not answers.

Be more selective of the questions. Don't answer lazy ones.

You've got another person agreeing here! I have no problems in helping out with technical help (grammar, spelling, explainations) but I'm sick and tired of these people asking for the work to be done for them.

Have to admit - I got a little snarky with one of the many looking where they could read a certain book "online" . I told him/her "it's a book. Find it in the library. Lots of printed pages. Read it."

Oh well - laziness will soon end when they actually have to earn a living and find out that the world won't do it for them.

You took the words right out of my brain. Anyone who give these kids the answers to homework assignments is enabling them to be cheaters and slackers. There is a reason for homework. It is to teach kids how to do research or how to solve problems. They need to read books and do math problems. I think that the category of Homework Help should be eliminated. It's not help; it's cheating.

I totally agree! THe name "Yahoo Answers" doesn't imply an easy way out on your homework.
I'm all for explaining users how to solve a problem. I almost always give an explanation on how to arrive at an answer, and I find that more useful that just giving the answer.

"Teach someone to fish instead of catching a fish and giving it to them", or something like that. lol.

You are right. I liked the one where someone asked how to use a couple of words in a sentence, and one of the people who answered used those words in a sentence having to do with the person doing their own homework. Wish I remember what it was.

times have changed. now, the internet is a legitimate research tool, and it is indeed fair to use it for research, including asking for help. however, if they get help with homework, but don't understand it, they'll still flunk the exams.

Why would they realize that when someone always gives them the answer on here.
