Earth is all there is for any living person, and perhaps all we'll have for another ten thousand years, assuming colonization of other planets is even feasable. In the past, all that kept conflicting factions with deep-seated enmity from destroying the planet was their limited armaments: you can't dismantle a planet with a catapult. In the last hundred years, that's changed completely; even peaceful nations struggling to keep their standard of living are slowly ruining our world by drawing on more resources than can be replenished. A better question is, why isn't everyone so worried about it?
