"71% of the population want America to cut its financial contribution to the UN. A majority from every geographic, demographic, attitudinal and political subgroup wants to see reductions in American funding.
The rejection of the UN is bipartisan. Democrats expressed negative evaluations of the UN performance only slightly below the national average, while Republicans were slightly above."

Diego, why, so you can control us? What an attractive thought. Not.

The United Nations has sucked this country dry. We spend to much money supporting an ineffective United Nations. We should be using that money for our own problems and N.A.T.O. NATO will at least do something to protect this country.

Just look at all the recent problems in which the UN has been impotent. And then the USA as the remaining superpower steps in and does something decisive after the damage has been done and takes abuse from all the wankers on the sidelines.
I'm a little sick of my tax dollars going to projects in which the whole rest of the world should be taking some responsibility.
That's why Europe gets 3 months paid vacation and universal health care while we work our asses off. Because we are the ones flipping the bill for international policing.

I have been saying that for years. The U.N. has failed since the days it was formed. Can anyone find one thing the U.N. was successful on? I would not say it is a completely bipartisan idea. John Kerry think the U.N. is the greatest thing to happen to this planet and how many voted for him in 2004? Many other liberal leaders in this country swear by the U.N. and look at all the liberals people that love them and keep voting for them. You can't believe every poll that you read, in 99.9% of them questions are asked in a biased way in order to elicit a desired response. I also would rate the major polls like Gallup and Zogby higher. I also don't believe anyone needs a poll that won't give the error margin. Yes we need to completely get rid of the U.N. and most conservatives and some liberals believe that, but I think that the majority of liberals still believe in the U.N. I hear politicians and ordinary people almost daily talk about how we need to get back to doing what the U.N. says or how we have lost our way since we don't listen to the U.N. It is sad that so many do still believe the U.N. should have any role anywhere in the world.

The UN is of absolutely no use to the US. The UN is never going to get any better as long as that sharp-dressed, do-nothing Kofi Annan is Secretary General. The only people it helps are Third World tin-horn dictators. The have never stopped one bit of human rights abuses. They would sink without our money and need to get their headquarters off of US soil.

The UN is totally worthless. It's just a big forum for people to do a few things:
1. Tell the US to go f themselves
2. Pretend that their country with torture rooms deserves respect
3. Try to create "global" policies, that are designed to punish the US, for being... the US.

The U.N. has no real power. They waste money and don't accomplish 1/4 of what an efficient organization could with what they have.

Yes, the UN is useless. How can it not be when most of the main players are knee deep in corruption.

Oh yeah. The UN sucks. We've already shown them we will go it alone for the right reasons.
But since we're big on diplomacy, I doubt we'll ditch them.
