a hick is sorta like a redneck and no its not a stupid question. an ipod is basically a more advanced version of an mp3 but they basically both are for the same purpose. with the ipod though u get more gadgets and gizmos

An i-pod is a specific brand of an MP3 player.

An mp3 is device that plays mp3s (the format for most songs).

The PSP is also an MP3 player, as are some cell phones, like the best version of the Razr.

I wouldn't think you're a hick for not knowing that, that is, if you didn't say "ya'll" at the beginning of your quesiton. :)

My goodness -- all those other answers are wrong.

Mp3 is a file type. That is it's extension. It offers a form of compression that's quite brilliant. And, there are mp3 players.

iPod is part of the iApple family that includes iTunes. It's file extension is different, tho you can choose to 'burn a cd' in mp3 as one of it's options.

Both are very similar but the differences are telling. mp3 is almost universal used by many programs. The iTunes (and iPod) software are proprietary.

ur not a hick just cuz u dont no the difference between them. im pretty sure a lotta people prolly dont. but anyways. an mp3 player is pretty small nd can usually hold only about 150-200 songs [thats what i have] and theyre cheaper. an i-pod is the same thing but it holds more songs and is bigger, nd some can play movies. and theyre wayy more expensive

Nothing... An Ipod is a brand name. They play file types .mp3 .ogg etc I personall have an iRiver rather than an Ipod. I found i could get the same thing but not the same cost. But if your a "namebrand" type of persont then go for the Ipod
