Life is competitive. Business is competitive. The gaming industry is a business and therefore "competitive" in that respect. However competitive it may be though, if you want in, there's always a way to find your niche if you know the right channels and have an employable skill that they're hiring for.

I don't get how life is competitive at all, really. How do you win it? The end result is the same--we all die. It's not like we get to live forever because we're the best. So I disagree that life is competitive. We're all in this together.
Unless you're talking about the board game....
People can be competitive, but money is a man made thing, and really doesn't exist. It's far more important to help our fellow man than to "beat him out".
The gaming industry is a field that is really popular and many people are looking to find work, and it's hard to get your "foot in the door", as opposed to say, working at McDonald's.
It's also a little play on words--GAMING industry is COMPETITIVE--tee hee.

yes, life is competitive, as well. survival of the fittest, and all that...that is true in any business, too. gaming businesses, or any type, must do things to attract customers....because they are competing with all the other businesses out there for the money. you don't want to set your prices too low, because while that does attract more customers to a point, it also cuts into your profits, and you don't want to set your prices too high, because the customers will go to less expensive places, so you keep tabs on what the other guys are doing, and keep your prices comparable to theirs...you can get away with charging a little more, if you can convince your customers that they are getting more value for their money...such as earning more comps for the casino restaurants or gift stores.

Any industry has various businesses that are competitive in the sense that they has to compete with other businesses to make what people want so they make more money and gain more popularity. Like Nintendo competing with Sony (not sure which makes more money) but it's like that...

I think they mean "you will be competing against people working for $5/hour in India. Are you willing to work for that after having invested the time, money, and energy to learn it?"
