Well - from what I was able to determine, the Satellite 2410 doesn't have an integrated wireless network interface. I notice that you mentioned an infrared sensor - this is typically used to connect to certain printers, computer-to-computer transfer (not true networking) and connecting to certain devices (like a Palm Pilot). Ir (infrared) isn't really fast enough to provide adequate networking, and the distance is limited, too (works a lot like your remote control for your TV).
If you don't already have one, you'll need to purchase a Wireless G PCMCIA card, too (about $35-$50). Stick with Linksys, this will help simplify getting connected.
Read the instructions carefully, and follow the directions. If all else fails, call product support.

i'm afraid this can nicely be slightly technical, yet i will do my impressive: you do not say what fashions your router & laptop are - that could want to help! it really is achieveable that they are both operating, yet not employing an same on the spot wide-spread. The laptop (if many years previous) might want to help in basic terms '802.11B' even as the router (& wanadoo adapter) might want to nicely be employing '802.11G'. examine the router's settings because it will be in a position to be set to apply both in basic terms 'G' or both 'B' & 'G' at the same time if it interior reason new. there is also '802.11N' it really is very new. you haven't stated even if the adapter is operating with the laptop or yet another laptop? If it fairly works contained in the laptop, then study the houses of its settings with those of your outfitted-in on the spot adapter. Is there a on the spot turn on the case of the laptop? sometimes it really is an same swap for both BluTooth & WiFi - examine that it really is on! The 'Sony Vaio VGN-SZ2XP' actually has one like this. What I stated about 802.eleven criteria also applies to encryption criteria. there is WPA (more recent, extra take care of) & WEP (older) - make positive that your Sony helps the WPA wide-spread in the experience that your router is employing it.

the rev is right. you need a wirless card from your local computer center and follow those directions. and kaiona is also right you have to setup the wirless from a computer pluged in with a wire so if you have pc connected you can do it from there or if you dont you can plug a cable into your laptop and follow the documentation on how to setup wireless. Lynksis is a little complicated netgear is easier but you can do it.

i would double check that all your cables are in their correct plugs..and possibly try turning your laptop off and back on again...if that doesn't work, disconnect your cable and the router and then replug them back in and see if that helps..
