Breathine is a drug used to stop preterm labor. It will not hurt the baby. I took breathine when I was pregnant with my third baby because I went into preterm labor about the same time as you did, I was off in a weeks time. When the Doc says you are 2 cm dialated, that is the amount that the cervix is opened, it must open to 10 cm in order to have the baby. Nice and thick would be the effacement or thinning of the cervix, it will thin out completely as you dialate more. Your doc does not want your baby to be born too early, therefore the breathine is too keep you from going into labor too early again.

Your baby will be fine. I took brethine thru 2 of my 6 pregnancies-one of which I was air evac'd and was monitored for 5 days to be sure that my son wasn't born at 6 months gestation then I was put on bedrest for 3 months. The brethine is to minimize or deplete any contractions you may be having. (It is also used by asthmatics).

NIce & thick means that your cervix may be dilated at 2 but you're not effaced, thinning membranes; basically that your water isn't going to break if he doesn't put u on bedrest. It won't matter if you go into preterm labor, you are far enough along to deliver a healthy baby.

My wife went in premature labor with our 3rd child and was on brethine, she was taken off of it at 36 weeks and the doctor induced labor at 38 weeks...the brethine shouldn't hurt the baby

my sister has to take the same thing...it keeps you from having contractions

your cervic is 0% efaced (meaning your still thick up there), the tissue isn't thinned out yet

as long as you take the brethine you'll be fine, just take it easy and rest
