I am making an instructional DVD and would like to hire an actor for it but have no idea how to go about doing this. Its not a big production and it should only take a day or two of filming. Where do I find such people (I am in the SF bay area) and how much do I pay them?

Well, you can go the Screen Actors Guild (link below) and find a professional actor in the bay area, no problem.

Another choice might be visiting the local Universities theater department or the local community theater to get an older actor.

I did one when I was in college, they flew me to Colorado to do a "tour of the campus" video with me asking questions to people.

Rates? At SAG they'll have set rates. I don't know about a college kid -- how about 20 bucks an hour?

Good luck with your endeavor.

Try Craig's List and post under talent, that's how I get most of my acting work. Since you're in SF it shouldn't take too long. As far as pay that would depend on a plethora of factors: time, product represented, union or non-union etc.
