It all depends on what sort of retirement life (comfort) you choose to have. Or rather how much money are you prepared to spend each month.

Indonesia is a relatively low-cost country, but security is a little questionable as emotions can sometimes go very high even with the slightest matter that may happen thousands of miles away from the country.

Thailand is a beautiful country, so is Philippines. Singapore is also a beautiful country with about the best securities in place - but cost of living is higher than places like Indonesia, Thailand or Philippines.

Myanmar can be cosy and peacful and yet low cost, but it is politically unstable at the moment.

I do not know much about Cuba or the Panama.

Thailand close for foreigners wanting to retire in Thailand. Only if you have a huge way of money in the Thai banks thew can fix a special visa for you. Also the new visa rules from 17 Sep 07 make it difficult to stay more than 90 days. And you can't reentry after the 90 days, but have to stay away from Thailand another 90 days before you can enter again.
I don't know about the other countries, but Vietnam and Laos is very good places to stay and especially Laos is very cheap.
Mothly living cost here include renting a furnished appartment is around 90$

Southeast Asia and Central America are generally less expensive than the US, but that is beginning to change in some popular places (especially in places like Costa Rica). Of course, the general amenities of life (24-hour shopping, broadband internet) that you may be accustomed to are not as widely available, and if you want them/can't live without them, you will pay a lot more.
My advice: google the countries you are interested in, check out their "official" websites, then compare with alternative sources of information such as the Lonely Planet guide books.

It varies from country to country. Currently the place your dollar will go the farthest is Argentina. There are more and more Americans who go there to retire due to being able to afford maids and housekeepers while maintaining a nice home for about a grand a month or less.
