i have a script that i can put into a web page that will make explorer crash. The script is 26 letters long, and does not effect Firefox, opera, Safari, or Netscape. The big blue E is so widely distributed that hackers can easily find ways to exploit it. Also, the security settings for IE allow scripts to run by themselves. Firefox is safer because of how it handles scripts and .exe files. But, I would strongly suggest using AVG, Ad-Aware SE, and Spybot S&D, all of which you can search for and find at Download.com. There is something in your computer that is making this happen. Here is another piece of advice...

NEVER USE THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT ON WINDOWS TO SURF THE WEB. USE A LIMITED ACCOUNT. WHEN YOU ARE SIGNED IN AS A COMPUTER ADMINISTRATOR, ANY PROGRAM ON YOUR COMPUTER IS GIVEN FULL RIGHTS TO RUN.. VIRUSES, ETC.

Go to W3C there is a lot more information. In summary, the IT world, unlike older disciplines, is still having standards issues. Internet Explorer is very much Microsoft - "proprietary". When you have many "layers" of software trying to talk to one another, you have this problem. There is light at the end of the tunnel!

IE crashes a lot? Funny, I've never had that problem. And I've probably got more crap on this computer than someone without a firewall! I just keep it updated and it never peters out on me.

I've got games that crash out more than IE does..

I don't really have the answer to that but since I stated using version 7 I haven't had that problem. I mostly use Fire Fox but IE does some things better so I us it also, depends on what I'm doing on line.
