My Patrol has a faded roof and a few small stone chips in the bonnet which are starting to rust, otherwise it is pretty good condition. Would it be worth while having it resprayed? If so, how much AU$ am I looking at?

In my opinion, there are many risks to a respray. You are better off leaving it as it is. If you get a dent or scratch on a new paint job, you will be unnecessarily angry. If you get a dent or scratch on your current paint you will not get unnecessarily angry. Use the car for its intended purpose until you can buy a new one.

Hi, Doll,
I had a Nissan Patrol once, and had it re-sprayed purple, my favourite colour, but it seemed to exclude the interior, under the bonnet, in the boot, side panels, and dear knows what else.
What a mess. It was not worth it.This was in the Mid-East a few years ago
Stone chips along the front can be put right with a bottle of T-Cut, and a bit of elbow-grease As for the roof bit, consider a vynal job, nicely glued and fitted in any colour you fancy. Not silly expensive, either, and it hides all the scratches & dings.

Of course, you could go for what my mate did, and had his Pajero covered and glued in wet soil, then laid to lawn. He mowed it rather than cleaning it. Daft but true.
Anyway I seem to be on a personal night shift, so forgive any tired notions, such as take it to a local dealer, and say "I want one a different colour ! You may be suprised at the positive response.
I don't know how many AU$ you are looking at, but in the UK a full re-spray on that would be about £800-1200. For a proper job.
Ship it over, and I'll have my mate do it. He joked
All the best, though,

At the moment older patrols and other 4 wheel drives have hit rock bottom price wise so if you decided to respray you would not get your money back. Depending on age and type of motor you may only get a few thousand for it. I would be very careful and at best would just get any rust spots cleaned and repainted for the moment until you decide how long you want to keep it for. Money spent on full respray which would be about $2,500 dollars AU for a complete job with two pack would be wasting money ok
