According to interviews of Khalid Shiek Mohammd, the master-mind of the operation... the hijacker/pilot had a choice of the White House or the US Capitol Building.

The Capitol makes a FAR better target visually... the White House is smaller and difficult to see on approach, but WAS the prefered target of Osama Bin Ladin

I know that it was headed west before it turned around and went east. Do we really know? It really doesn't matter anyway. Those brave people onboard gave their lives and may have saved thousands. And for that, bin Laden is still on the loose as we get lied to every day and are in more danger than ever.

Nobody truly knows. There are a lot of theories, but truly nothing can be proven. (If you haven't seen 911 In Plane Sight, it truly shows a side of 9/11 that they don't tell you in the news.)
