Use Easy-Off Oven Cleaner. Spray it on (keep it off of anything aluminum or it will pit it!) and let sit. Then scrub w/ scrubbie sponge, or brillo if the surface can handle brillo.

First lay newpapers all around the floor to catch drips. Place the oven racks in a giant trash bag with 1 cup of amonia and tie tight and place outside. Then use an oven cleaner of your choice. After the cleaner has done it's job, check to see if the door of the oven lifts off to make cleaning easier. Use a couple of old sponges to wipe all the nasty stuff off the walls, bottom and top of the oven. Use non metal scrubber to get off baked on ****. Rewipe oven till all is sparkling clean. Next do the door if it is one that comes off. Place oven liners on the bottom to help keep oven clean. Scrub racks and rinse. Replace racks and door. Close oven and voila! Clean.

Check if the oven has a self-clean function. If it does, follow the directions (it should be inside the door). The oven heats up to a temperature that disintegrates whatever's stuck on it. If not, there's easy off oven cleaner that heats up in the oven then loosens all the baked on stuff, which you then wipe out.

Buy a good qquality oven cleaner at the supermarket. I use Easy-Off. Follow the direction on the can. After you have cleaned with this if you still have a few spots left uncleaned. Reapply to those spots. If still left you will have to good old elbow grease and and scrubbing pad. If still some left you will proably have to live with it.

When the oven is luke warm, take Bicarbinate of Soda and hot water and wipe the oven clean... the reaction from the soda erodes anything in the oven and keeps it clean... we did this and it really does work (if you dont want to spend money on cleaning agents that might not work or makes you choke when you inhale it).
Good Luck - its a s#$t of a job!

Once you have done what the others before me have suggested and the oven is clean....Use an oven liner to help prevent it from happening again or simply put aluminum foil at the bottom.
Good luck

Firstly, STOVE: try using this product called Tough & Tender -multipurpose cleaner to clear the oily stains and add Sol-U-Guard to dissinfect as well. My stove and kitchen-top doesn't fell sticky or oily anymore after using it. Cultivate a good habit to clean regulary especially after cooking (at least one time a day).
Secondly, Oven: try Tough & Tender first. If it still persists use concentrated Sol-U-Mel to do clean it. It removes the ordours as well and made from natural ingredients.

Turn the oven on to it's highest temperature on preheat, if you have that setting, and bake all of the stuff inside to a crisp, then wipe it clean. This will take a couple of hours, minimum, though.

I use the Heavy Duty Easy Off Cleaner. It works pretty well. Just make sure to follow the directions exactly.
