Is going through nursing school really worth it in the end? Is it as hard as they make it in school? Do you make the money without killing yourself?

Yes it is worth it. It is tough (much harder than high school) but you end up with a fantastic sense of achievement. I love nursing so the money for me is just a bonus. I do work hard but I do not kill myself for it. My family aways comes first!

I became an RN in the 80's and graduated a 4 year program from Michigan state university. Nursing school was rough but nothing compared to the horror of working. I lasted 2 years on a Med surgical floor of the hospital, crying every day on my lunch hour. Finally quit and went to work in a psych ward, which was much easier, but still not good.

Now I have another career, but sometimes do some nursing when I need extra money. The understaffing and just the drain of the work, coupled with family members who are often unhappy and very quick to sue, make it a very undesirable profession.

if all you want is an easy job that pays good $$$ then nursing is not 4 you
Whatever $$$ nurses make, you can be SURE they EARN it............. they will work in an overpriced Home for the aged OR in a hospital with very little time for their patients
My daughter is a nurse and does it becuse FIRST, she Loves to help people and would do it without the money if she had to.

It is very hard work but it is worth it in the end. You do make good money and you have virtually unlimited job opportunities, also plenty of room for advancement, but you have to be motivated, ready to work hard, and truley care about the people you are taking care of.
