What causes it, what caused me to be attracted to other men?
Is it my genes?
An overprotced mother?
No father figure or strong male influence?

New research is tending to show genetic basis ... multiple genes ... as basis for homosexuality and other sex traits. But don't feel alone. Male dolphins do it. Many animals, in nature ... and 10% of all men.

I'm not gay, but know that the world would be a MUCH poorer place without the gay friends I've come to know and respect so much, along the way. Gay guys, in some ways, get the "best of both worlds", in terms of personality traits. Thas' why girls love them so much ; ).

I have a cousin who did a HUGE project on homosexuality for a college course she was taking. She found out that it's biological. I can't remember it exactly, but there's something in a homosexual's brain that's like twice the size of the one in a straight person's brain. This thing is what controls sexual desire. I can't remember what it's called, but it begins with a "H". And whatever it is, it's formed during the first trimester, so it's determined before birth.

Well some doctors say that it is caused by being to close to the same sex parent, and then suddenly losing them. Some say that your genes were mixed when you were developing, they say your Y chromosome and your X chromosome, the two that decide whether your a male or female were combined, and you are both. Some say that you have more fem qualities in your body then masc, and your acting on them, some say other things. No one quite knows yet, but sooner or later we will figure it out

Which came first the chicken or the egg? I don't give a crap, I just eat the egg and the chicken.

There are always going to be questions that we can't answer. Just live life and enjoy it. Does it matter why you like men? Just keep liking them and enjoy. Asking questions like that sounds like you think something is wrong with you.

wow, alot of childish answers here. there is no real answer for it yet, perhaps there wasn't a cause it just was, not all things have to come from somewhere, maybe deep down everyone is gay or bi or whatever and just doesn't want to admit it, maybe not, we won't truly know. but if you are happy with what you are, then embrace it and wonder why later.

Why are people homosexual or bisexual?..because we are babe just enjoy yaself and be happy ...hugs

No one knows exactly why people are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, any more than we know why people are heterosexual. Many theories have been suggested as to why people are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, including hormonal differences, genetic predispositions, family interactions, social and emotional factors, or early sexual experiences. None of these theories is, as yet, widely accepted. There is a lot of evidence to suggest that homosexuality and bisexuality are, at least in part, determined by genetic factors prior to birth. Research continues to be conducted in these areas.

Regardless of why people are gay, lesbian, or bisexual, it is now clear that people do not "choose" to be homosexual or bisexual. Even if people do not have sexual experiences until they are adults, their sexual orientation is determined early in life. This means that whether a person is sexually abused as a child has no bearing on whether he or she will be gay, lesbian, or bisexual. While some people who identify themselves as gay, lesbian, or bisexual have been sexually abused as children, there are also many heterosexual adults who were abused as children.

Similarly, it does not appear that sexual orientation can be changed or altered. Whether through psychotherapy, religious experiences, or other means, there is virtually no likelihood that one's sexual orientation can be permanently changed. While our sexual behavior may be quite variable, orientation is more stable. A heterosexual person can no more be "changed" to be homosexual than a gay or lesbian person can be "made" heterosexual. Psychotherapies or religious organizations that claim to change sexual orientation focus on changing sexual behavior, not sexual orientation. Gay, lesbian, and bisexual people can best be helped by accepting who they are, rather than trying to change who they are.

what causes someone to be any sexual orientation (including heterosexual)?

For some it might be genetics.
For some it might be a reaction to socialization. (what kind of reaction differs)
For some it might be there their sexuality is fluid over a life time, meaning at one point it is one thing, at another point it is another, and so on.

Humans are not carbon copies, neither is human sexuality, nor the reasons for varying sexual orientations.

What causes heterosexuality? Asexuality? The human being is a sexual creature by nature.

You will find homosexuality, heterosexuality and asexuality as well as bi-sexuality in all creatures.

It is a natural variance of nature.
