I have read from an online reference that too much sex (daily) doesn't help to conceive? (I thought this as odd - the more sperm, the more chance... right??) It said that it thins out the mucus that helps keep the sperm alive and swim to the egg and should be done every other day. I am charting my BBT every morning, and used the ovulation kit and last Sunday it showed positive, so we did it daily for the next four days. I'm not experiencing "regular" period cycles since coming off the pill in April (after 13yrs). Both myself and hubby are 30 years of age. I would think that my period would be due towards Thurs next week (from average cycle dates from past 5 mths). In addition to the "do you think every day is too much sex" question, at what date should I wait to get my period to know if its missed yet?? All help would be great!!!
Thanks!!

experts differ on this. They know that waiting longer than 72 hours definitely does not help because the sperm starts to die. So yes, you have more sperm, but it is dead.

As far as every day, some say it doesn't matter because the man's body will produce the same amount, and having sex every day furthers the chance that sperm will be there waiting to fertilize an egg. Others say it makes less sperm, and having sex every other day gives you more build up, but I am not sure I believe them. My thought is that it probably doesn't matter if you have sex every day or every other day, as long as you aren't waitng every 3 days or more. You might have less sperm per orgasm, but since you are doing it more often, it evens out.

As far as your last question, I didn't have regular periods after coming off of bc pills either. I just took a pregnancy test every month to be sure. When in doubt, test. So take one next Thursday if your period doesn't come, and if it still hasn't come by the next Thursday, take another test. You can get them at the dollar store for a dollar apiece, and they are just as accurate if you can't afford to buy a bunch.

People trying to concieve should only have sex every other day. (As told by my doc.) The sperm counts has a chance to come up in between sessions. If I were you I would do as I did get yourself an extra week for the period cause when you are stressed and ttc sometimes your period can come late. As hard as it is try not the dwell on it and relax. Speaking from experience I know it is hard, but hang in there. Wishing you all the luck in the world.

It seem's like when you try you don't get pregnant,I lost my first son when i was 71/2 month's I had placentapreva and it was pretty painful and all I could think about was getting pregnant, I tryed and tryed and nothing. We broke up and I was nolonger thinking about it and started seeing someone else and 2 month's later I was pregnant.I have a 15 year old son.My first son would have been 17 4 day's before him so just relaxe and let your body do the work. It will happen when the time is right, not for you but for your body.I hope it all work's out for you and GOOD LUCK!!!

Unless the doctors have changed their opinions since 1997 when I last "visited" the fertility discussion phase of my life...

You should have sex every other day during your projected ovulation cycle.

Too much sex lowers the sperm count in the semen, and is actually counter productive when TTC.

First of all you sound a little stressed. the more sex the better. if you are constantly worried about when is the best time to conceive, the stress from worrying yourself can prevent you from having a successful pregnancy. Try having sex the first 3 days after you have your period. It worked for me, and I have 5 kids.

if you are having sex all the time, then your not giving his sperm time to regenerate. you should try to only have sex every other day. and you can take a pregnancy test 4 days before you think you suposed to start. Good luck.

Sex every day will increase your chances of getting pregnant and should not affect his sperm too much, however if he has some sperm factor problems they recommend every other day.

It takes about 48 hours for the man to make more sperm so if you are having sex daily and TTC it is actually harder to concieve. You gotta give his little men a chance to referbish.

that makes no sense to me, more sex, more chances IMO. but what do I know. its fun though
I know more sex does slightly lower the number of sperm per ejaculation, but its slight, to raise it you need to not ejaculate for at least 48 hours

I honestly don't think that you're having too much sex. Just keep working at it but also enjoy it.
