No, if anything the computer is trying to reach the standards of the human brain, If it ever can.
A person is born with a developing brain, but after that brain has finished developing it will never have any more memory capacity. New memories can be written into it, and we don’t know the capacity of the human brain. People with photographic memories can remember exactly everything that they see. This quirk puts all their memory into long-term memory storage. Although this gift is rare, we haven’t seen anyone with it, have their brains overloaded or suddenly become unable to store more memories. Normally we don’t remember everything and only put a few of our memories into long-term storage. Since we have this feature in our brains there might be a limit on how many memories we can store, but if so then it is a limit that no one has reached yet. Of course people lose some memories over time, and are even able to forget some long term memories, so it seems we do have a limit to how much we can remember. But, then there are those people with photographic memories again. They don’t seem to have that problem. It is only natural to assume that with a finite space we can only have a finite number of memories, but no one has proved that yet. Of course we don’t really understand exactly how our brain remembers things. We know that it’s more complicated than just one neuron or one neuron cluster per memory, the brain’s neurotransmitters and maybe something else has to be involved too.
One dream of science fiction is true cybernetics. If we can break the code on how the brain sends its signals and stores its memories then we have a chance to make a true interface with it. When that is possible then we can do things like install a RAM chip to increase our memory size, or maybe we can add on additional skills or memory patterns with ROM modules.
Another dream of science fiction is the DIN (Direct Neural Interface) that would give you the ultimate web diving where you could use your thoughts to navigate the web. Another use would be to control bionic limbs. This week a bionic limb equipped man and woman were shown; they had the latest in artificial limbs. To use these limbs some of their nerves were transplanted to their chests. The people then learned which thoughts could be used to move the arm. They don’t have their nerves directly connected to their bionic limbs; science has learned how to do that yet. Instead they have to learn which nerve impulses to use. After a while their brain adapts and they can use the arms petty well, but it isn’t a true neural connection.
Computers keep getting more and more memory and someday soon they will be able to have more neurons and more neuron connections than the human brain has. Will these computers then become intelligent? No, intelligence is more than just memory it also involves associating those memories, understanding what they mean and making leaps of thought. If you show a person a picture then they can usually determine what it is, based on their memories. To a computer it is a collection of pixels. We can tell that computer what to do with those pixels and how to use them to do a task, but it really doesn’t understand what picture it is seeing.
We can create a program to let a computer recognize words and word patterns. This is how search engines work. However, they can’t hand pictures. The Google and Yahoo image search routines are based on the work of humans. Someone had to sit down, look at all these images and assign the keywords to them. After that the computers can take over. They can run key word searches, but running a true image search is just too difficult for them to do.
Getting a computer to recognize an apple and know what that means is difficult. Just like it is difficult to teach a computer the meaning of language. They can run routines that simulate an understanding, but they still don’t have an actual understanding.
Artificial Intelligence is the holy grail of computer research, but it is still a long way away. Currently computers aren’t as smart as a rat. You can teach a computer everything that a rat can do, but unless you tell the computer to escape the maze it won’t. The rat can, the rat can visualize things outside of its world and even outside of its experience. A simple lab rat, born in a cage, can escape; make it into the outside world and survive. This is beyond modern computers. Part of the rat’s ability to do this comes from its instincts, but a lot of it comes from its ability to adapt and overcome, its ability to go beyond its simple instincts (programming). However, nothing can add and subtract faster than a computer can.
For simple tasks the computer is best, it can even perform lots and lots of simple tasks to do some pretty complex things, but original thought is still beyond them. They need a lot more work before they can even approach the intelligence of a dog, much less that of a human.

I think your analogy is accidentally reversed; however, hitherto the computer cannot imitate the human brain because it cannot think for it self. The computer can comprehend and calculate information, but it cannot carry out tasks independently. Simply stated, the computer can only do "what it's told".

The human brain is much, much, much more sophisticated than the central processing unit on a von Neumann machine (= "computer.")
Computers can't touch us until the CPU has been radically and ingeniously re-designed.
