If you don't care about the lock, get a crow bar and you can probably pop it off. Otherwise, take it to a locksmith.

If it is the cheap lock that both sides of the key look alike........Just take a paper clip and un do it ......now bend it in half so is about 1/4 inch wide or same width as smaller end loop was. Now about 1/2 inch up, bend both ends out 90 degrees so you can turn it. Now put the rounded end in the lock and start turning the paper clip using the 1/2 inch ends to do this with. Turn clockwise and you will notice it is winding up on the bottom. Continue doing this till it goes inside the lock toward the bottom. If all works it will open the lock before it becomes stripped and the paper clip just around and around in the lock ...See....only the bottom part of the key actually opens the lock. As it winds around and gets smaller the top part will spin and the very bottom part will open the lock.

Now if it is the better Master lock there should be numbers in black ink on the bottom. just write them down and a locksmith can make it from that number.

Better Master locks can be picked with two lock picks but if it has 5 tumblers they are much harder to do.

Do a Google search for lock picking.

About two feet of dental floss, wrap it around the knob hold on to each end and pull it back and forth really fast ! But take the tension off the lock first (have someone hold it) That will usually pop it open !

Get a pair of "bolt-cutters" from a tool rental, remove the lock that way.

don't go through the trouble of picking the lock. just buy/borrow some bolt cutters and cut it off. you'll be done in 5 seconds.

Just poke around his house, basement, garage and look for the key. Otherwise, you might have to use a hacksaw or one of those big nippers/wire cutters to cut it.
