Bob claims he left the show because he didn't like the way the show was going....instead of a fix-it show it was becoming a showcase of home remodeling for the wealthy

I don't know if I believe that. Personally I think they fired him for his incompentence....have you ever seen his show after TOH called Back Home Again? He doesn't even know which end of the hammer to use, it's really sad to watch this once great icon of do-it-yourselfers fall so far.

Bob Villa?

He started doing commercials for Sears, and the producers of TOH didn't want their main personality to be so obviously connected with a big retailer. I guess they thought his name would allow people to think that Sears tools were used on TOH projects.

TOH usually covered up the manufacturer's names on the tools being used on their shows.

Yep, what the first girl said. The way TOH goes over budget is laughable.

"Well, Norm, we went over budget by $800,000 but we feel this light house was worth it." Gimme a break.

I don't think Bob Vila is all that, either. I hate how he says his last name: Bob Veeeeee-luh.

If it'd been about competence, they'd have kicked Steve Thomas of the show during his first season.
