They can't realate about the struggle that black people go through. Plus it will be a fade to them. They will grow out of it and we grow up with it. So why do they bother?

Hey, you cannot assume that white people and black people don't have any similar struggles. A white person can be as broke and angry and discriminated against as a black person. A white person can also cruise in their Rolls Royce, diamonds shining, just as well as any black person! I seriously hope your defense isn't going to involve "slavery", because guess what, Jews went through the Holocaust, YEARS ago... but hey isn't that a similar struggle? Having NO control over your life!?Regardless of all that, I don't think it has anything to do with the background of the music so much as the beat and the image that goes along with it and that is what attracts the fans. The fans can be black, white, red, yellow, blue, purple, whatever... do you honestly believe they're sitting down reading the lyrics? No way! They're all out at the club, dancing, drinking, bullsh*tting. Hip hop is EVERYWHERE, it's a culture that obviously does not discriminate.

Also, as far as it being a FAD (not a "fade" as you'd put it), I have to disagree. A fad comes and goes, hip hop has been around since the late 70s and obviously has stood the test of time, even through it's evolution.

You should really educate yourself before making assumptions. Just some friendly advice for you.

Because rap and hip-hop are all MTV ever plays anymore. Besides, is Hip Hop really about black struggles anymore? All I get out of what I see is some dude singing about making money while a bunch of scantily clad girls with jiggly butts dance around his tricked out Hummer. I'm sure there are relevent hip-hop and rap acts out there, but I don't think that is what most white kids are hearing. And, FYI, as a white girl, I always understood artists like Public Enemy and NWA just fine. Black struggles aren't that hard to understand or relate too.

Listening to hip-hop is not a racial entitlement. Anyone who want to can listen and enjoy it as with any other type music can be appreciated by all.
This form of music has been around long after many thought or prayed that it would end and was a phase, like you must see it. It is here to stay though it may take on many forms, this one you can't wish away. BTW, not all hip hop is about the struggle of black folk, but can be as diverse as what women go through, or men, or society, etc.-of all races.

I don't like a lot of rap because a lot of it is sex + drugs, but about the struggles part maybe I'm not at risk of getting my head blown off, but that's because I don't associate with "thugs" and "gangstas" and I don't get myself into that stuff, I'm not wanting to end up in my grave anytime soon so I won't smoke or do stupid things like that (But if u wanna do it that's ur business so be my guest)

As for "White people have no struggles" that's bull sh*t!!!! I'm like 75 % white (25 % Boricua) and my life is not all sugar and candy canes. I'm not rich I barely have enough money to make it through one week of skool I get 20 bucks at the begining of every week and I have to make it stretch for 5 days

my mothers is a basket case with a nasty temper wh is always fighting with me and judgeing me and my dad works his butt off but all of his money goes to my lazy mother's child support check so there is barely any money for us.

My uncle is a cocky and arrogant jerk who only cares about himself

My Aunt is an overprotective person who can be a bit over bearring

My other aunt Has done all kinds of drugs, she's been an alcoholic, had a baby when she was 15 was kicked out of her house abandoned her kids and left them with my family depleteing even more of our resources

My parents were sperated and I raised my sisters who were 2 and 4 from the time I was 10 til I was 13 my mom always took her anger out on me

I was picked on when I was little because I was "white" and "ugly" and had no friends

and ur gonna tell me that I've never suffered!!!!!!!!!

screw you. I agree with the guy who said rappers are not doing any of the things that they say that they do, because if they did they would still be in jail right now.

Everybody can relate to struggle and opression, everybody has feelings. And stop being so racist because your not the only person who has been discriminted against.

Good question...It's simple-it's a creative art form that is popular and they just want to be a part. God blessed Blacks inspite of our horrible history of slavery and discrimination. No one is able to express music and rhythm like we can and the fact that white people like it tells me that we have something special. I don't listen to rap and I don't agree with some of it, but I do respect most of the talented artists that are out there.

It don't matter what color u are. U can be black, white, or blue and listen to what ever music that u like. U are stereo- typing. Music is music. Music doesn't have a color. Something is wrong with u if u think of music as in what color u are.

why do YOU bother?! music is music! (if you even call it that) music knows no color. music is an expression of the soul, and not based on race. personally i don't listen to hip hop except for eminem. i'm a white youth and i'd rather listen to rock! racist!!!!

I don't know where you get your info from but white people do struggle too. You don't have to be black to be able to relate to some of those lyrics.Like one said music knows no color.
