Well into the late hours after the food has been chilled and everyone has gone I love to pile a little bit of the turkey, stuffing, turnip, and cranberry sauce with a blob of Miracle Whip onto the dinner roll. I'd have to say the left overs are my favorite.

I am usually so busy getting the meal on the table that I eat little Thanksgining Day. My favorite food is the leftovers the next day! I particularly like something my mom used to do with leftover masked potatoes and turnip-yes I love turnip- Here we have "Florida mountain" turnip-grown in Florida MA-not the state of Fl. You can't buy them until after the first hard frost and they are so sweet! They taste nothing like the ones you buy in the supermarket. Anyway, you melt a little butter in a frying pan, mix together equal amounts of leftover mashed potatoes and mashed tunip and just heat the mixture through. I would eat more of it but I have to warn you, turnip is full of fiber, creates gas-enough said!

my husband's grandma has handed down a recipe for her cranberry relish:
Grind the following in a food processor:
1 bag fresh cranberries
1 large orange
1 apple
Add : 1 16-oz can crushed pineapple, drained and 1 cup sugar
Then dissolve 1 box cherry or strawberry jello in 1 cup hot water; allow to cool. Combine with fruit and then chill several hours!
So refreshing and goes great with the turkey!
Can't wait till Nov.

I make a fabulous cornbread stuffing with toasted almonds, apples, apple juice, chicken broth, dried cranberries, turkey sausage, celery, and onions. I wish I had it right now!!!
Also, try this with your turkey this year: instead of a metal rack for your roasting pan, cut up some hard vegetables (potatoes, carrots, asparagus, onions, garlic cloves, and even apples) and put those in the bottom of the pan. Put the turkey right on top. When it's done, you will have DELICIOUS vegetables for a side dish!!!

Sweet potatoes is my favorite traditional foods (at least, traditional for my family).
And I don't think I'll be inviting tatjana over for Thanksgiving...what a buzzkill.
