idunno,

What do you mean by having a career that is nothing but computers?

Do you want to be a programmer? An analyst? Do you have any plans to be in management?

Most companies prefer people who went to University and got a degree because there is a greater breadth of education. A lot of institutes are heavy on the technical skills of pfrogramming and such, but are weak on the other tangible skills such as communication, planning, etc

You have to look at what your final destination will be (programmer for life? upper management?) and then take the educational route that will best prepare you for that.

An institute in some cases is not accredited to give you a degree...Colleges and Institutes like Chubb Institute are given licenses from the state and local authorities to teach the subjects, like computers but also from other governing bodies such as Western Association of Schools and Colleges or some such name...they differ. Basically they are groups of colleges deciding what courses students should take in order to have a degree...If you get a certificate from Chubbs the certificate is only as good as how good your employer thinks it is...if he had good employees educated at chubb he might prefer that over DeVry. Sometimes what happens is you work somewhere and they make you a manager, and the HR says that all managers need to have a degree (associates, bachelors, masters, phd) In order to keep their jobs...You may have that problem someday...I would go for the cert if it is well know and respected in your community and pick up the degree part time somewhere...Ask if Chubbs is part of a larger governing body of schools and colleges and if credits will transfer...You might find out DeVry will transfer credits from Chubbs and you will be that much ahead! Good luck.

First and foremost, this is your life so don't listen to everyone elses opinion about what he or she thinks about institutes, colleges, and universities. Do what you want to do.

Secondly, what do you want to do with your life? I would figure that out first (even if you don't thats cool too) and do reseach on what school offers things you are interested in. You said computers so I would look at the technology courses and education offered at the different places and compare them, and see what best fits your needs.

A degree is a degree, and that is what employeers see. Accolades associated with different colleges and universities do not really amount to what you feel you are getting your money's worth for your education or not...

Just research, research, RESEARCH! Visit the schools if you can and apply! Do not do something you do not want to do simply because other people have a stigma on the school you may or may not attend. I'm sure that many negative things can be said about ANY college, university, and/or institute along with other positive things.
Trying to figure all of this out is stressful and hard enough without throwing someone elses opinion in the mix.

As far as your Masters degree goes, you need to get your Bachelors first. You can always go to a different school for your Masters.
