The neighbour is a friend but not a close friend. I've known her for five years. I'm not sure if I should leave my boring job and work for her as she really wants me to.

I wouldn't do it. If things don't work out then you still have your boss as a neighbor and you might screw up a friendship. Also if things do work out but your boss turns out to be an @ss at work do you really want to see them at home too?

That would depend on the kind of job it is. I wouldn't get into that situation in an office setting but if it is a factory or sales position it should be okay. The reason for this is that in many office situations most people keep it on a professional level. In factories and sales positions a lot of people are more relaxed and friendly and promotions don't come into to play as often. It also depends on how long you've been neighbors and friends. You have to take into consideration that you may lose a friend if he/she has to fire you even though they may have done whatever they could to prevent it.

Depends on the neighbour and yourself. It's a personal thing. Only you know the real answer.

Don't take it! It's never good to work for a friend.
