The ideomotor effect refers to involuntary and unconscious motor behavior. The term “ideomotor action” was coined by William Carpenter in 1882 in his explanation for the movements of dowsing rods and pendulums by dowsers, and table turning by spirit mediums. The movement of pointers on Ouija boards is also due to the ideomotor effect.
Carpenter argued that muscular movement can be initiated by the mind independently of volition or emotions. We may not be aware of it, but suggestions can be made to the mind by others or by observations. Those suggestions can influence the mind and affect motor behavior. What is purely physiological, however, appears to some to be paranormal.

You will see from your answers that most people for whatever reason regard the board as a negative thing and I would agree, whether the board opens 'gates' or is controlled by involuntary subconcious movements or whatever, the fact is that the biggest danger from these boards is the effect they have on your mind, the mind is possibly your biggest danger here, my family was quite deep into spooks, hauntings, spiritulism etc and nothing positive ever came from it, it can start as a nighttime fun scary thing but after that once your imagination has it then the problems start you don't need drugs or mediums or special tools to damage your life your mind can do it quite well. don't bother with it really its not a good thing, I have never heard of anyone having any profit or good things relating from its use. study the stuff if you must like the paganist writer advocated but dont use the stuff.

I really works, but only if you are open minded enough to accept spirits talking back. You lightly put your finger tips on one end and someone else does the same. Ask a question::::: But only if you two are willing to except the answers and spirits. It's a dangerous thing to deal with, if you aren't prepared!

Step Away from the Spiritual Device......
no i am not going to tell you that you will burn in hell,
I am a Pagan Spiritual Cleanser, and i have had to "clean" one to many homes after inexperienced people played games with the Oujia or Witchboard.
you will not contact anything friendly, mostly negative spirits and entities, that are very good at lieing and even better at discerning information from the simplist things. they have ahd a very long tome to perfect their deceptions. if you do not know what you are doing yo u will only end up opening a doorway that you will not know how to close. and most people do not know an exorcist, or cleanser, so you will be in a hell of a fix.
if you really want to know how to use them study the history of Paganism and learn something about divination, and then learn about "spitit divination" and then you will understand the Oujia.
untill then please do not play with them they are powerful tools and they do work.

Do NOT mess with that !!!! A LOT of people will tell you that it is not real and that it's just a game. It is NOT. My friend, a normal woman in her late 30's, intelligent, mother of 3....she did it. And she contacted a spirit that made her life HELL. You have NO IDEA what you could be messing with. You will possibly open a "doorway" that invites spirits to you...and they are NOT always friendly !!!!! And it is NOT always easy to get ri of them. That one did not just leave when asked to. DO NOT MESS WITH IT!!!

I would not mess with it because it is evil. I have never used it but friends have told me they put their fingertips only on the pointer thing and then ask it a question. Then their question is answered but unnatural ways

No, it does not. Why? Rationalization is here:

As for the nonense about the gateway to hell. Send the gateway my way, at your expense, and I'll use it to spell "thank you", possibly a message from the demons themselves!
