Truly a social science question. The age 51 to 56 is the ages that were important to my shaping. The age of birth to the 20's are usually the personality shaping years, despite what many social scientist think. Biology, since the 1960's, has being try to claim the area of human behavior, cognition, development and many other areas back into the science column, where they started, with Charles Darwin.

The fundamentals of ones self ( empathy, compassion, trust, love, nurturance, self-esteem, feeling safe, hope, the wonders of the world...) are shaped during the first few years of our lives. These characteristics are then strengthened or weakened by our caretakers (parents, older siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, teachers and so on).
Some say that these traits can only be learned during these fundamental years.
The children of today are our furture, so treat them well.

Apparently there are eight defining moments in everyone's live that dramatically affect each person. Although I think most people would say childhood I believe we make our own destiny when we get older. I don't think its an age thing I think it's a circumstance thing.
