can i use the green drywall or??

Cement board is best because you don't need any other backer given it's inherent stength. Hardi-backer is fragile in that once scored it will break like drywall.

Of course if you are using tile, then really any waterproof material is fine....greenboard, hardi-backer or cement board.

A word of caution for cement board....it is heavy and somewhat difficult to cut through so it may require a little extra effort.

the best way is to use the water resistant sheet rock and a layer of cement board if you are going to tile which you don't mention. To attach the tile you will then use thin set mortar essentially making a totally waterproof barrier in your enclosure. Should never need to worry about leaks after that. You can use either half inch cement board or quarter inch. With the sheetrock as a backer you should be able to use the quarter inch board effectively. Good luck

if youre putting in an enclosure you dont need green drywall. go to home depot or lowes and for less than 100 you can buy an enclosure

Hello, All the answers sound like good ideals. The only thing I see missing is if it is not going to be done with tile, I would paint the walls with a semi-gloss paint for better protection than flat paint.

Yes, green drywall (sometimes blue; called "Greenboard" or "Blueboard") is designed to be behind areas that will be exposed to water.

yes the green dry wall is made for moister but use a good ceiling fan too and in the holy bathroom too thats building code

i use both green wall is for ceilings and walls. for tub and shower use both that extra bit of effort and small price tag could save you thousands!!!
