I met my boyfriend through a dating site online and I eventually moved closer because he was a state away and it was better for me to move. He was more anchored in his area with job, etc. So eventually you have to see the person and spend time with them because you can only know a person so much through the phone and internet. There is always a possibility that you could fall in love with the person, but I don't think you'll ever really find out until you can spend more time face to face communicating cuz anyone can have great communication over the phone. And how will you know if you will have any chemistry or attraction in person rather than just on the phone or webcam. It takes more committment to have a normal healthy relationship where you can interact with the person on a daily basis. It also doesn't sound like you are quite ready for love since you are saying you are scared of getting hurt. Maybe too scared to move the relationship into the next level or possibly moving or she has to move. Just think about what you really want. If the person is worth it. Good Luck!

Yes, it's possible. Many couples have fallen in love over the Internet, myself and my fiancée included. It was much the same for us as it is for you; I was a happily confirmed bachelor and she was a recently widowed woman of my own age, only about 2000 miles and a huge mountain range separated us. But sometimes you just have to have faith. We prayed, listened to the "still small voice" that was urging us to take a chance, and we took that chance when I left California to be with her in Texas. Now we've been together for two years and I've never been happier in my life.

Don't be afraid. Risking the pain of losing love is often the only way you'll find it. Good luck!

My husband and I met on the internet but we fell in love with each other in person. We used the internet as a means of communication. Too much you can hide on the internet and you can only show what you want instead of a person being able to use all their senses to make a judgement.

the chances of relationship failure are extremely high, since you dont really know her. you might think you do, but after knowing someone for a while, or LIVING with someone, is when you start to really know them. Most people who meet on the internet are emotionally inexperienced. Definetally meet, and date, but always know that you will not last. Expect the worst, then if it doesn't work, your head will be on straight still. If it does, you will be a headstrong person.

I do believe that one can make lasting friendships and even find romance through people that you "meet" on the internet. I know of 2 friends of mine who met through the net and fell in love and went on to be married. I am also very good friends with several people that I've mannaged to meet on the net through Yahoo and various other ways.

I think it's possible that you can think you can fall in love on the internet. People hide things from you in chat and you can really get your heart broken if you aren't careful. Love is more than sending notes back and forth to someone you haven't met. Risky business but you may want to meet to see if there is really anything more than chat.

i dont know how about others
but i dont think i would
love takes time
love requires both of you to spend time together
knowing each other better
it is about accepting someone's shortcomings
while in the internet
you only see their photos, and hear what they say about themselves
but once again, what do i know?
its up to you to decide

No, I think you need to spend time with the person face to face in order to fall in love.
