It may be the stretches you do. Your lower back/tailbone area is also a very significant part to it too. Make sure you don't just stretch the legs. Make sure you do plenty of back leg stretches. There's a stretch my dance teacher used to tell us to do. You sit on the floor, spread your legs into the 2nd position as wide as you can. and lean forward, reaching your arms out until your forehead can touch the floor. DOn't bend your knees unless you really have to. While you are in the 2nd position, turn to your left/right to stretch our your back. Hold each stretch for about 20 seconds to really loosen up the middle/lower body. Hopefully this helps. It sure worked for me =)

Well, I would suggest you see your doctor, most of the time stretching every day for 10-15 minutes should enable you to do the splits. Maybe you have short tendons or something physical that inhibits you from being able to do them. Sorry and good luck.

It could just be a bone or joint problem. Try talking to your doctor. I don't stretch that much and can do the splits. Some people might just not be able to do it no matter what.

It's OK, I will never be able to do the splits because I have a rotated right hip. I was the only girl in my class who couldn't! Just keep practicing, good luck!

Well, keep trying! dont get mad tho ! just try to put your back leg on the ground streched out all the way then strech out the front one the best you can do!! it's hard blive me!! but keep tryin and you'll get it!!!

that's alright..I can't touch my toes either...I'd say it's just a defect we have....my seven year old brother can do the splits AND touch his toes...my sister's friend can grab her feet when she's laying on her stomache and pull herself up..she can put her foot behind her head..but she can't touch her toes..funny...just keep practicing...
