If this is true, I'd like my reparations now please as a descendent of an Irish and West Indies bred slave. And Native American. And the English family member who had his brother sent to America so he wouldn't inherit stuff. I'd like that back too please.
Come on and go to school however you can now. Everyone someplace has been screwed over somehow. Some of us minorities...multiple times.

I will be happy to have the government provide reparations to anyone who was a slave in America. Let them show up and apply.
It was a long time ago, and I had nothing to do with it. I have five relatives that fought on the Union side and two of them were killed. To my knowledge, no relative was a slave owner. They simply were not wealthy enough as poor Irish immigrants who were also discriminated against at that time. Why do you feel that I owe you anything?
It is time that you stop blaming others for your own short comings. You live in America and can do anything with your life you want. But if you are going to blame others, you will never get anywhere because you have an excuse not to work at it.
Finally if you wish to move back to Africa, be my guest but you need to pick where you want to be. I don't believe that any law is prohibiting you from leaving. You should feel lucky that your poor ancestors went through what they did, because you are so much better off here than you would be in Africa. Slavery was a horrible thing for them, but it has had a very positive effect for you rather you wish to acknowledge it or not.

Even if reparations were successful the amount of monies that the average African American would receive would be so scant as to most likely afford you the opportunity to buy a bottle of Boones Farm. Secondly the proposal is way too unrealistic and most likely unachievable considering the national debt is in the high trillions. The Black community just needs to forget the past and move on. The opportunities for successful careers and lucrative venture are available to every American. Many wealthy and successful business people are African American and occupy many fields. If anything the trail of reparations would lead to the African tribes that raided and enslaved other tribes and sold them as slaves. So technically reparations should come from African Tribal Communities. Blacks should be more appreciative that they actually live in a country such as this where they have the ability to achieve great wealth. Where running water and food are readily available. I think any African American that complains about this country should pack up and spend some time in Africa. We have as a country grown and learned from our mistakes. It's people like you that want to perpetuate hatred and animosity. There is a good life out there for you just go out and get it!

I agree, many white Americans and those of other races believe we should not receive reparations. Why should any human impede the justice due to slave descendants? Or has anything changed since H.R. 29 was defeated along with many other civil rights due African Americans? Before they said "No Way!" now they say, "Get over it!" what's changed? I am sure any human who was due their father's father inheritance would want it returned to them why not slave descendants? This country was made rich and powerful with the help of those African slaves who were never acknowledged financially or otherwise. Every American legal or not benefits from the direct enslavement of our African ancestors. Many Americans particularly white say well who should it be paid to? All this money that was made from slavery and passed on to them did they ever ask this same question?

not at this element. There ought to have been greater performed for them while the slaves have been freed nevertheless. component to the challenge is, a thank you to you positioned a cost on human life/freedom? the government ought to have dealt with this back in 1865. there is not any 'honest' thank you to pay all people back at this element. Even Holocaust victims don't get reparation except they have some form of documented evidence that they had money/valuables stolen from them or their families and that became merely over 60 years in the past. that is too late, the U. S. snarled huge time and there is not something we are in a position to do approximately it now. maximum persons are unlikely to confirm directly to pay for that mistake besides. Are all of us going to ought to return up with distinctive genealogies that tutor our ancestors weren't in contact interior the slave commerce? i don't see how we are in a position to do something.

The word is reparations and the concept is all wet. Just like your spelling. Go get an education and then rethink the concept. There are so many things wrong with this concept, I won't even begin to list the ones that come to mind....

How about if we focus on getting basic discrimination protections for gays and lesbians first. I hear you about your history. Do you hear me about my life today? I can be fired just because my boss finds out I'm gay. I can be denied housing just because the bank finds out I'm gay. This is current reality in many of these United States of America. Do you get what I'm saying? It sounds somewhat like your history.

You can attend any college of your choice provided you qualified. Why would you want dual citizenship with Africa just to say you have it, please. Ordinarily I would address this but it isn't going to happen so why talk about it.
