If it's just a neighbor, and not a friend, now is not the time to try to create a friendship. It would be kind of you to stop by with some kind of covered-dish such as a casserole, potato salad, or something else ready-to-eat. Tape an index card to it with your name and phone number, and a note that says "I'm here if you need me." Do they have a dog? Offer to feed or keep it for a while. Do they own a business? Perhaps you could help by taking phone calls or something. Bottom line, if you aren't close, a good neighbor will offer a hand and be available if needed. You will not be able to help them emotionally if you don't already know them. If you are friends, then you are already welcome in the home and you should try to be there for them as much as you can without being a pest. It's a touchy situation, but you don't want to just ignore them at this, their most horrendous time of their lives.

IF you cant say anything to comfort her don't say anything at all, I know it's hard. I have lost 2 kids of my own. If she believes in God assure her that the lord will now take care of her boy. And that the lord needs good people in heaven to help him with his things.
It has been 6 years sense I lost my boy, and 2 sense I lost my little girl. you can never get over it but support from friends and family can make things better. just help her out with things around the house mow her lawn, things like that.

since you are her neighbor, look for very practical ways to support her. Mow her lawn. Bring her meals (tell her in advance so she won't start to prepare a meal). Give her a sympathy card too.
