I don't understand why, in Catholicism at least, since that is the only religion I know much about, why is there such an emphasis on not sinning? Why do people strive for sinlessness? Why are people called "weak" for "sinning"? Don't they realize that if no one committed these so called "sins", what a terribly boring world it would be? And practically everything can be construed into a sin. If I ran into Jesus, I don't think I'd want to be friends with him because I think he would be boring. He'd be the type of person you'd have to be careful not to swear around, or point out anything humorous. The type of person that when they enter into a room where everyone's having fun, all the fun stops because he's a party pooper. No one likes a non-"sinner", yet people strive to be that way and people such as religious fanatics, prudes, priests and nuns try to make you feel guilty for sinning. Why?

The philosophy of religion is one of the most fascinating areas of philosophy. It addresses not only the perennial question Is there a God? But also the questions if there is, then what is he like? And, most important of all, what does that mean for us? These are questions that everyone should ask at some point.
I think in any religion not only Catholicism but in any religion; sinning is a bad thing even though people are attracted to sinners, if you look at this matter psychologically you will see that at some point the person might feel bad about what he committed!
Now they may say: If Jesus could come again today to save us of all our problems in the third millennium, he would not come with a great social or economic or political plan of action, and he would come to "take away the sin of the world". But don’t you think people will sin again?
Do you think killing is a sin? if so don't your realize that if no one committed the sin of killing what a happy life we would live at? I don’t think it would be (boring) life as you called it.
I don’t know but there is a reason why god made us able to sin, i think is to go back to Him and ask him to forgive us, and by that we be closer to Him, to also to have that feeling of tranquility that He is the when we need Him.
Feeling guilty about something you did means that inside of you something is telling that you are wrong, people are different, weak once will sin and then feel bad about it because the goodness inside them is stronger that the desire.

I'm not Catholic, just a Christian. As a Christian I strive for sinlessness because I strive to maintain a relationship with God [who requires me to ask for forgiveness when I offend Him (which I do daily), since my sin seperates me from Him].
In any case, God never said I couldn't laugh and have fun. Basically your premise is that you can only have fun unless you're sinning, which is clearly not true. If you and others clam up when a Christian enters the room then it means that there is perhaps respect for the God in them. If you don't stop what you're doing then maybe there's no respect or conviction in what you're doing.
Christians don't have a heaven or hell to put anyone in, but we have been commissioned to share the good news of God's salvation through Jesus the Christ.
Like I said, having fun doesn't include sin. You can put people in their place, and have conversations without cursing being involved. You can party without being raunchy. I could go on and on, but as "non-sinner", which doesn't exist, I don't want to be a prude. Remember, the only difference between me, and someone that's a "sinner" is that I believe I have a savior that has taken my sins away, who I ask forgiveness for everyday.
As for those that keep repeating the comment shut up. I keep asking the question, are you representing Christ, and believe your doing what He thinks is right, (just more proof that everyone sins), cause that is not pleasing to God.

Lets try and take religion out of this if we can! There are the ancient codes of conduct. They bacisally are rules and regulations by which man should live so that mankind does not devoure itself.
If you look at what is termed sin you can find a paralle to support the foundations of the tribes, governmenet, society, civilization.
Kill = its bad = people die.
Screwing around, well we have found through out history lots of reason why one should not just spring from one bed to another, in our time its called aids...killing others.
Steeling, speaks for its self, taking some thing that is not ours is wrong and can result in loss of what is ours and death.
drugs, although appear to be a problem of the self, is actually a society problem because they wind up cleaning up after it, therefore the people who partake of this activity are steeling from others.
Being rude cude and just plan mean, is not ok for you to do as it involves harming others, and that is not your right to do so.
Swearing, it used to be that one in the Catholic religion could swear....but only using the saints names.
those that dont care for those they call non sinners, might just be a bit swallow themselves, and are the ones that dont have much to offer in away that is enduring.
You are free to sin. And certainly no has to follow any rules whatsoever, be it religious or otherwise, but...they will find living in the world will be extremely difficult. Therefore you will find most people adhearing to some laws, some form of DO's and DONT's. But just because you dont sin doesnt make you a dull boy or girl. Try getting to know some. but then again I dont know anyone that doesnt sin...do you?

I dunno, I am a Buddhist. We love sinning! But if "not sinning" meant I had to go to "heaven" and be forced into sunday school being taught by Pat Robertson from the 700 Club for ETERNITY then count me as a sinner. I would rather be in hell with everyone I know drinking, smoking, and committing adultery (all the things that the truly righteous do too) We just don't have to hide behind the guise of being "saved."

If you don't look at it as 'religious' per say, it is because usually 'sinning' or doing something against society or criminal hurts others besides yourself. For example...adultery hurts the spouse/s...stealing from others/stores hurts those who own it to begin with. If you try to live your life without hurting others and maybe make some mistakes along the way, you're just learning how to live life, not 'sinning' as such.

i feel sorry for you. i truly do and i will pray for you, that you may be brought to the truth and the light. the bottom line is, since adam and eve's first sin, there have only been two people in this world that have never sinned, Jesus Christ and his heavenly Mother, Mary. all people sin and it is inevitable. we are all born with sin, but it is our repentance and asking for forgiveness that makes triumph over sin and try to overcome it. i dont know who you are talking about that "no one likes a non-"sinner"" that makes no sense. it is terrible to even think that the King of Kings is boring, because he came into this world with nothing and gave everything for us, us that have no possible way to repay Him for that beautiful sacrifice. there is no greater Man than Him and i can't wait till i see His face in Heaven. i pray that i may one day see you there as well. God bless you all.

quite some sins are exciting because, nicely, they are oftentimes exciting. so some distance as why they seem to be a sin... perhaps it really is consequences of particular forms of exciting that lead them to a sin. i do not imagine this is the exciting elements in themselves that are incorrect. this is that maximum of them, in case you do them, deliver consequences you in basic terms do not imagine about on the time of committing them. That, or they convey consequences shall we prefer to trust received't contact us if we one way or the different use effortless experience even as we sin (which comprise someone who says they could drink without it being risky as long as they don't get inebriated). perhaps contained in the top they are sins because the undesirable in basic terms outweighs regardless of sturdy (or in spite of the undeniable fact that a lot exciting) you get from them... and perhaps, because we are in basic terms human, we in basic terms have a demanding time accepting that. we prefer to trust that if we use our effortless experience above each and every thing else, we may be able to't be touched by employing the undesirable consequences. as well, maximum sins must have something sturdy about them in the experience that they are to be dedicated. If there have been honestly no advantages to sinning none human beings might want to sin, and there might want to be no favor for sins to be said to us. Even the worst of sins might want to be justified by employing the concepts of the guy who commits them. For some the justification is they are exciting. For others, there are likely different causes they arise with to justify why they do them.

first of all, who said it had to be sinless, at most a religion said so and a religion is just a theory of someones hopes of what is to come or a story told to get people to follow you...
i highly doubt (if life was made) that life was made to be interesting, I'm agnostic, meaning i don't believe that a god or gods/goddesses/ do exist, but i don't believe they don't because i cannot prove either true... but i believe, if there was a true god, then this life was made just to test us if not just to see what we do, like her/his little ant farm...
people strive to be sinless, so that they can be strong willed and so that the devil will not take them, also to prove themselves to god...
and if you think about it, aren't parents stereotypically party poopers... life wasn't made to be fun, and that's why there are consequences

People should do their best to learn from their mistakes. But people are not perfect and learn by trial and error. I think the Bible outlines some rules that would make this world a more habbitable place.

People see that there are benefits to at least appearing to be virtuous. Thus we strive to be honest and trustworthy, or to at least fool people into thinking that we are. If you proclaim how awful a person you are you may have problems getting a job, finding friends, or getting laid.
