I think it's ridiculous that we do not open our doors to strangers 364 days a year, but that one night we not only open them to strangers, but to strangers wearing masks!
When my son is big enough we will take him to the festival at church on Halloween.

We go over to my hubby grand parents house and I help give out candy and hubby takes the kids to his friends house. Well now that the kids are older they give out candy. Halloween is a big deal to them for some reason and they like sitting on the porch and seeing the babies all dressed up. Everyone knows everyone in that area. Then I take the kids to church the night before. They have games and stuff.

Love it but my boys are 11 and we now live in a fairly safe place. I wouldn't let them go if we were in LA or somewhere else. In our neighborhood we will have 100's of trick or treaters. We live on a street with only one outlet. I give out bags of candy. When they were younger we did the zoo and six flags. This year they are old enough for haunted houses yeah........

I take my daughter around to the local neibhor hoods. Also in town they hand out candy at the small "shops" on main street. Its great. Then they have a festival.. but whats stupid is our state, makes it a rule when and where to trick or treat and also they only get 1hr to run around.
When I grew up we ran around from dusk till lik 10pm, or till the lights on the houses were gone. We raked in abunch of goodies, which mom and dad monitored what we ate and of course checked the candy for bad stuff!
I think Halloween is great! I love it..

it is too dangerous to go door to door now a days. I don't even know who my neighbors are and if they can be trusted. I usually go to the places like church or malls or some even that one must pay

i am sick to death of people saying that halloween is a day to worship the devil. this is anything but true. they think that because of some wierdos out there ruining it for kids who simply want to have fun dressing up and going door to door. although im not overjoyed with the tons of candy, i do not believe that people who trick or treat are fraternizing with the devil. it can be unsafe in certain neighborhoods because of people who have lost their minds and want to mess up kids as much as they are.

I personally find nothing wrong wit trick or treating. As long as the children are supervised with someone 15 or older and ALL the candy is checked before eating.

I think it's fun for kids, too bad some wierdo's ruined the safety factor. I take my kids to the local church. As they get older, I'm not sure what we'll do, maybe have a halloween party for them and their friends.

I have no problems with trick-or-treating. I let my oldest go out. She loves dressing up and visiting all of our neighbours. We don't let her eat all of her candy. We take most of it away because we don't want her to get bad eating habits.
