And how is it that sometimes if there's a car in front of you and there's the illusion of water in front of your car that you can sometimes see the reflection of the person's car that is in front of you in the water thingy? And why does that happen?

that's called a mirage: it's actually n optical illusion cos by the refraction of lite from the sky by heated air. I learned this in school.

This is the classic MIRAGE. Hot air at the pavement causes light to bend (as opposed to a sharp reflection that would occur from the surface of water). The bending creates the appearance of a reflective surface and out experience figures it for water.

i don't exactly know how it happens but when it is that hot it just happens. it is like the desert, when it is hot people see illusions of water. so it is not just the road.

I suppose refraction of some sort - it can be annoying, though. It is not a mirage - I think we have all seem them. I do not swerve because they are quite harmless.
