I dont want u to do it for me but tell me the steps once and ill get it and never ask again

this is my first time asking a homework question btw

So my teacher wants me to convert to the answer into meters, kilogram, seconds format....meaning she wants the answers in those measurements

the problem is i dno how to convert two things like this

>>>>>> 17.24km/hr <<<<<<<

so its suppose to come out to be m/s

i only know how to do simple ones like 750 mm to meters = easy

but two step problems i dno how to do

please help me

thanks

When doing a problem like this your goal is to cancel out the unit given and make the unit you want. Consider each unit individually, i.e. hours, minutes, seconds together and meters, km together. If its easier for u, first get to seconds and then get to meters:
17.24km/1hr x 1hr/60min x 1min/60sec x 1000m/1km =
Hope this helps!

OK, 2 facts you can make use of.
1. Multiplying by 1 doesn't change the value (but might change the form).
2. If you have 2 equal values, dividing one by the other = 1.0.

So you need to convert 17.24km/hr to an equivalent speed in units of m/s.

1 hour = 3600 seconds so (3600 s) / (1 hr) = 1.

If you multiply 17.24 km/hr times 1 in the form (1 hr) / (3600 s), you get (17.24/3600) km/sec.

Do that again using 1 km = 1000 m.

You can string it all on one line:

17.24 km/hr (1 hr/3600s)(1000 m/1 km)

This is just like the simple one you noted, except there are two simple ones.

17.24 km/hr is really 17.24km * 1/1 hour. Convert each of these into your desired units.

17240 meters * 1/3600 seconds

Do the multiplication:

17240/3600 meters/second = 4.79m/sec

Hi: It is easy:
17.24 km = 17240 meters
1hour=3600 seconds
17240/3600 m/s =4.789 m/s=4.789 meters/second

first you convert like this
17.24km /1h = 17240 m/ 3600s
= (the answer)ms^-1

i am worthless at math but

172400 meters / 3600 seconds = 47.88......

i have no clue if thats right!

17.24km/hr * 1000m/km * hr/3600s
When you write this in regular top-and-bottom fraction form,
it's easy to see how everything cancels
