My mom had tickets to a concert at a country/western place in Fort Worth called Billy Bobs. It is a bar but it is also just a place where famous country singers have concerts and alot of people even bring their kids. Well my husband had a fit when I said that I wanted to go. He said i was married and had no business in a bar. It didn't matter that it was with my mother. I ended up telling her to ask someone else, but I still think my husband was being rediculous. What do you think?

Just to add: He knows what BillyBobs is. He has been there before and so have I. Also, he met me at a bar, so not all women who go to a bar are bar sluts. That is just stupid.

I would think that he should trust you - especially if you were with your mother. Then again, I don't know your mother, but if she is the average sort of mother, then I would think that there should be absolutely nothing for him to worry about.
What is he so afraid of? Why doesn't he trust you any better than that? Why does he so need to control you? OR, does he just intensely dislike the idea of bars, period? Maybe he views them as nothing more than pick-up joints, especially for women without male escorts. Yeah, guys can be like that.
Personally, with only the information given, I think he was being ridiculous.

I don't think he really understood.
When people say that they're going to a bar, people immediately think of some place full of drunk people. His reaction was understandable since he didn't want you in a place like that.
Maybe you should have shown him pictures of it from a website or something so he could see that it was not some shady place.

yes he was , so next time he wants to go have a drink with a buddy tell him that he is married and he does not need to be at a bar. sounds childish but maybe he will see how childish he was being. he has some trust issues. i would have gone anyways, maybe that's why I'm not married

I think you should have a talk with him....seems as though he, for some, reason, doesn't trust you...ask him why...does he have reason to not trust you? Has he done something and feels guilty? Get to the core of this "jealousy and distrust" before you end up leading a very boring married life...everyone needs their own life to live...married or not....remember that...

My guess is that his distress represents a problem other than this one. This is the tip of the iceberg, but he has other concerns about your behavior. Perhaps you spend too much time with your mother and not with him. There is more to this story than him just looking like a prude.

I think he did you a favor. Why the hell would you go to a place called Billy Bob's anyways? That's just asking for drunks to drool all over you, hit on you, or worse.

He sounds very controlling. Did you ask him if he wanted to go? It's insecurity and possessive cr_p. I lived with that for a loooong time. Damned if you do, and damned if you don't. I couldn't even go to the Getty Museum!! It really sucks. Needless to say, we broke up. Oh, and yes, he IS being TOTALLY ridiculous. I feel you,

You should be thanking your husband, kissing his toes with gratitude. Anyone who would protect his wife from going to a hick country and western place to hear that crap called country is a hero.
Just kidding. He's being rediculous.
